The first 2024 BRICS-TCA TVET Teacher Capacity Building Webinar devoted to "Inclusion in the field of Vocational Education and Training" was organised of the 7th of May 2024. The webinar was addressed to the development of Technical and Vocational education and training of the disabled people in the BRICS countries. The event looked at key issues of inclusive vocational education, such as enhance access, provision of accessible environment, counseling and career guidance, vocational orientation, methodological and psychological support, education skills competitions for certain categories of students with disabilities, as well as usage of modern educational technologies in teaching, digital technologies in TVET.
The webinar was moderated by Ms. Zhao Ye – the representative of CEAIE (BRICS-TCA Secretariat). Ms. Tatevik Karabekyan - Deputy Director, Department of State Policy in the Field of Secondary Vocational Education and Training, Ministry of Education of the Russian Federation in her brief welcome speech mentioned the importance of Abilympics movement and state support measures in this field.
The program included the presentation of Ms. Dina Makeeva - Head of Federal Methodological Center for Inclusion Development, Member of Executive Committee of International Abilympics Federation in which she presented Russia's experience in the development of inclusive TVET, including employers' participation in providing training places and workplaces for people with disabilities as well as organization of professional skills Championships “Abilympics” among people with disabilities. The main achievement of “Abilympics” Championships is further employment of its participants.
Prof. Mauricio José de Souza Neto - Federal Institute of Bahia (IFBA) (Brazil) presented CONIF’S goals for inclusion, Inclusive policy development framework, teacher training on programmes, CONIF’S major debates and challenges for inclusion, etc.
After presentations the speakers answered some question from the participants.
The first webinar in the series of TVET Teacher Capacity Building was successful and the great start of BRICS-TCA activities in 2024 under the Presidency of the Russian Federation in BRICS.
The webinar was organized by BRICS-TCA Secretariate and Federal Institute for VET Development (Russian Federation). About 90 participants from Russia, China, South Africa and Brazil took part in the event.
