On the 3rd of October, the meeting of the BRICS-TCA international coordinators working group took place on the premises of the Federal Institute for the Development of Vocational Education and Training. At the meeting features of TVET systems in Brazil, the Russian Federation, India and South Africa were discussed. The meeting was organized in the framework of the international study “Technical and Vocational Education and its Impact on the Development of the Potential of the BRICS Countries”.
The participants of the meeting discussed the details of the ongoing study, as well as presented best practices and TVET technologies contributing to strengthening the BRICS countries potential.
The education systems in the BRICS countries have a similar structure - initial, secondary and higher education. However, there are differences in the level names, education system segments, duration of study. Secondary technical and vocational education belongs to the system of secondary education as well as to non-tertiary higher education.
A separate segment of education is adult education and training and non-formal education and training, for the recognition of the results of which appropriate mechanisms are implemented.
Open education, distance and on-line education are developing in all countries. There are public and private educational institutions at all levels.
The recent 2 years have been momentous for each BRICS TCA country. There have been significant changes in the sectoral structure of training, in the technologies used and in the pedagogical system. The contemporary structure, TVET development features, new education technologies will be reflected in the study.
The results of the international study will be presented early in 2025 at the BRICS-TCA meeting.
