On April 10, 2025, the Joint Management Committee of the BRICS-TCA held its annual meeting. Participants summarized the outcomes of 2024, exchanged views, and outlined the work program for 2025.
In 2024, under Russia’s BRICS chairmanship, a series of initiatives were organized under the leadership of Sergey Kozhevnikov, Director of the Federal Institute for the Development of Vocational Education and Training, to strengthen BRICS vocational education and training as a multilateral platform for dialogue, knowledge sharing, and cooperation.
On May 29, 2024, the BRICS Alliance Workshop on Technical and Vocational Education Cooperation was held in Moscow in a hybrid format. Key discussion topics included collaborative achievements, future prospects, and the alignment of TVET with labor market needs across BRICS countries.
Additionally, six professional development workshops for TVET educators were conducted throughout the year, addressing critical issues such as inclusivity in vocational education and training, the attractiveness of TVET, and fostering partnerships between TVET institutions and economic stakeholders.
In line with the decisions of the Kazan Declaration adopted at the 11th BRICS Education Ministers’ Meeting, the Federal Institute for the Development of Vocational Education and Training of Russia implemented the first phase of a joint research project on technical and vocational education and its impact on capacity building in BRICS countries. This initiative aimed to consolidate the expertise of BRICS Alliance members in TVET through collaborative research and practical studies. The research results are available here
Meeting participants highly commended the Russian Federation’s contributions to strengthening the Alliance’s role in vocational education. In conclusion, the Federative Republic of Brazil assumed the BRICS Alliance TVET presidency and expressed its commitment to expanding comprehensive, practical partnerships among member states.
