BRICS-TCA seminar “TVET Attractiveness and Role in Contemporary World” was organised in the hybrid format on August 26, 2024 in Kaluga-city (Russia). The seminar was held as part of the TVET Forum “Creating Future with our Hands”, one of the largest events in the field of TVET in 2024. The Forum brought together TVET educators and experts from different countries – some participated in person, others online. The Forum with international participation embraced an impressive scope of events addressing diverse TVET-related issues.
At the Plenary Session “TVET: Education the Size of the Future”, achievements of the large-scale on-going Federal Project “Professionalitet” aimed at modernizing the national TVET paradigm were highlighted, together with the TVET advanced training technologies, innovative developments and practices.
The section "TVET Attractiveness and Role in Today’s World” that addressed diverse aspects of enhancing students’ motivation to opt for TVET, was moderated by Ms. Marina Nevskaya – Head of International Cooperation Unit, Federal Institute for the Development of Vocational Education and Training.
Mr. Ioan Klindukhov, Vice-Rector of the Federal Institute for VET Development, elaborated on the role of creative industries as a factor that contributes to enhancing attractiveness of the TVET sector for both the youth and employers.
Dr. Wang Qi - Vice-President of Ningbo Polytechnic University, addressed the participants from China and presented a comprehensive overview of TVET in China from the perspective of measures taken by the Government to make the TVET sector attractive and relevant for the economy.
Mr. ROHAS BORHES Hose del Karmen – General Director of Department of Technical Education in Venezuela, in his online presentation introduced the TVET system of Venezuela and shared his country’s experience of training skilled manpower for Venezuelan industry.
Mr. Sergey Gil’ - Scientific Director of the resource platform “Career in Russia”, President of the Intellectual Alliance Foundation spoke at length of the wealth of experience and successful practices accumulated across the TVET sector in Russia that deserve to be analyzed and scaled for the benefit of all TVET actors and stakeholders.
Overall, the section reconfirmed the on-going diversified efforts in all countries to enhance the TVET sector and make it more attractive for students and industry stakeholders. A further continuation of the discourse in different modalities is most welcome as it will strengthen the efforts and practices in each country.
Another section moderated by Ms.Alla Burmistrova, Deputy Head of International Cooperation Unit, Federal Institute for the Development of Vocational Education and Training, looked into the role of TVET schools associations in building partnerships. The presentations highlighted experiences of different types of associations in Russia and Belarus and focused on the newly formed Russian-Belarus Association of TVET Schools stressing their role in TVET modernization.

Mr. Golubovsky, Director of Belarus Republican Institute for VET Development, who shared his vision of the expected impact of the newly founded cross-country Association of TVET Schools;
Presentation of Ms. An Yan, Deputy Secretary-General of China Education Association for International Exchange (CEAIE), who shared an in-depth overview of the role of professional associations in TVET based on the expertise and achievements of China Education Association for International Exchange.
Dr. Zolotareva, President of the RF Union of VET Principals, who spoke of the newly updated strategy of the Union and shared an impressive agenda of its activities across Russia, inviting the participants to take part in these events.
The events were organized by the Federal Institute for the Development of Vocational Education and Training (Russian Federation) – the 2024 BRICS-TCA Chair. About 80 participants from Angola, Belarus, Central African Republic, China, Qatar, Russia, South Ossetia, Turkmenistan, Venezuela took part in the event.
